More traumatic childhood memories

I had a t-shirt when I was a kid that said “A woman without a man is like a fish without a bicycle.” The quote was wrongly attributed to Gloria Steinem. It was a grown-up sized t-shirt, so I think I would wear it as a smock. I am hazy on the details.
