I still have a checklist in my head for the house in the suburbs, things we talked about doing. It’s not front of mind, but every once in a while something triggers it. An ad on Facebook for a picture hanging system, for instance. There was this great set of drawings in the basement that were hung behind the television. We had talked about moving them upstairs to the living room where people could see them better. I haven’t thought about them in months, but for a moment when I saw the ad I thought, oh, maybe that might work!
It doesn't matter now.
I did check off a to-do item today. When I moved out of the house, I forgot to grab the coffee filters that go with my coffee maker. Instead, I grabbed a bag of filters that were the wrong kind. I’ve been brewing with those, which doesn’t work all that well.
This morning, after Mitra and I took our walk, and then I sat for a while working at a café, I went to the market and bought the filters. I had set a reminder that would pop up on my phone when I got to the café so I wouldn’t forget.
Progress!
I bought a few cans of soup, too, and some bananas, then realized I didn't have a reusable shopping bag with me. I got a paper bag that says “Making Everyday Moments Delightful!” on the outside and I kind of want to frame it. What a brilliant thing for a market to advertise about itself. Making coffee is an everyday moment and my purchase of proper filters will, indeed, make it delightful!
Let us all endeavor to appreciate all the delightful everyday moments we’re given in this life, wherever we get them.
