One thing about having a teenager around is that I hear a lot about my perceived flaws. It’s not a mean thing. It’s a totally normal way that kids have of separating out from their parents as they approach adulthood. My kid has to define herself as a separate, contrasting entity, so spends a lot of time thinking about me. I’m a mirror and a yardstick.
